Rue "Hemlock" Silverleaph participated in the campaign against the Directorate and House Espinosa. Not for glory or the money, although both did happen, but because the Directorate interfered with her business within the Aurigan Coalition. The disruption of Hemlocks very profitable black market 'trade' hub on Itrom compelled her to join forces with Lady Kamea to restore the sector to its former 'hands-off' attitude towards the Blackmarket.

As a general rule, Hemlock does not allow the crew to name the 'Mechs. She tells them not to get attached because any 'Mech can easily become someone else's salvage. Hemlock makes sure Yang always has replacements for any 'Mech that is seriously damaged or destroyed that can quickly be made battle ready. Despite that outlook, the Hemlock Marauders have not lost a single 'Mech in battle. That's not to say that badly damaged 'Mechs are not sent to the scrap heap, but not a single Mechwarior has died or had to eject in battle.

Hemlock's Marauders colors are light green and black with red flashing. The insignia is a dark hemlock tree on a pale green background. Rue is a Robin hood type pirate. She knows that to get access to rare 'Mechs and armament, she has to maintain a good relationship with the local pirate organizations where she supplies salvaged 'Mechs. Hemlock has an intense hatred for Taurian Concordat and does whatever she can, within few bonds, to thwart any activities of the Taurian Concordat government. She refuses to take on any Taurian crew. Rue recently spaced a 'Mechwarrior, callsign 'Racer', for being a spy for the Concordat, which was never proven (neither that she did space someone or regarding the allegations).
